'Go Parks' Active School Challenge
Dear Parents,
Active Schools have released a brand new challenge running through the month of February called ‘Go Parks,’ - in a bid to encourage children and families to become more active during lockdown. Beginning on Monday 1st February and running through to Sunday 28th February, we are encouraging children, families and wider families and friends to walk, skip, run, hop to their local parks across Coventry. In each park, it is your child’s challenge to find the banner or poster with a QR code. Once an adult has scanned the QR code and inputted Holy Family’s details, 10 points will be added towards the school. The school with the most points by the end of the month could win up to £2250 worth of PE equipment and resources! What an incentive! Please find more information on the PE page of the school website. https://www.holyfamily.coventry.sch.uk/home/curriculum/pe-and-sport
Children's Mental Health Week 1-7 February
Dear Parents,
This week (1-7 Feb) marks Children's Mental Health Week. This year's theme is "Express Yourself"
In Early Years, we place high importance on the physical and emotional wellbeing of our children both at home and at school. Our tasks and activities enable our children to express themselves creatively in a variety of ways. We ensure that every day there is a task linked to their physical development and throughout the week there are opportunities for arts and crafts. As part of our focus on wellbeing, Friday afternoons will continue to be our Fun Challenge or Treat afternoons.
To mark the start of Children’s Mental Health Week, The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of Place2Be, has sent a message of support encouraging children and parents to find ways to share their thoughts and feelings, particularly during such a challenging time.
During the video message, The Duchess highlights the crucial need for parents and carers to look after their own mental wellbeing, and the impact that this has on the children in their care.
Please take time to look after yourselves too, during these challenging times.

Handa's Surprise
As part of Black History Month, we have been reading the story of 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne. We tasted some of the seven delicious fruits including bananas, tangerines, pineapple, avocado and mango. We decided which one was our favourite. Using four of our senses we ; used words to describe the taste and texture, thought about the texture and how it feels in our mouth, discussed what the fruit looked like and talked about how the fruit smelt.
We had a great time! Our teachers were very proud when we tried fruits that we haven't had before.
European Day of Languages
Ciao! We have had lots of fun celebrating European Day of Languages with a focus on Italy. We have been learning how to say hello, thank you and well done in Italian. We learned the colours of the Italian flag and made a collage of the flag. Using different shapes, we created repeating patterns using Italian flag colours. On Google Earth, we looked at Italian landmarks and talked about how Pope Francis lives in Italy, in the Vatican City. We also made pasta necklaces. Best of all, we made our own mini cheese pizzas. Mama Mia! What a busy week!
